Founded in 2012, the Vaclav Havel Czech School welcomes everyone who would like to learn the Czech language, enjoy the rich Czech culture or contribute by teaching others to speak, read, or sing in Czech or dance Czech dances.
Our school organizes weekend language and cultural classes for children. Throughout the year we sponsor lectures with writers, illustrators, scientists, and filmmakers from the Czech Republic and prepare art exhibits and facilitate movie screenings.
Cultural events are organized for children, their families and the wider community with the goal of preserving and passing down traditions that we are proud of and that enrich our daily lives. Activities include Mikuláš (traditional Czech Christmas event), the Czech That Film Festival, Easter Egg workshops, puppeteers, read along and storytelling, theater performances and group cooking experiences.
If you are interested in bilingual education, we are here to share information with you. Thanks to modern technologies it is becoming increasingly easy to find sources for online courses that can benefit you or your child in mastering the Czech language. An extensive library with books for both children and adults is here to be used!

We are looking forward to meeting you. Come and join us!
Our school was named after Václav Havel, Czech playwright, poet, political dissident, and president of free Czechoslovakia (1989–92) and of the Czech Republic (1993–2003). We received the honor directly from Mgr. Dagmar Havlová, the former first lady of the Czech Republic, actress and co-founder of the VIZE 97 – Václav and Dagmar Havel Foundation, in 2014. We are currently the only school carrying Vaclav Havel’s name outside of the Czech Republic.
